Atlantic Aviation Introduces Sustainable Aviation Fuel at LAX
Atlantic Aviation today announced the availability of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at its Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) fixed base operation.
With support from World Fuel Services, Los Angeles World Airports, and World Energy, the innovative producers of SAF, Atlantic Aviation expects SAF to account for approximately 8% of its total jet fuel volume at LAX in 2021.
“The regular availability of SAF at LAX represents the next step in our commitment to renewable energy and the reduction of carbon emissions by the aviation industry,’’ said Tim Bannon, chief operating officer of Atlantic Aviation. "The integration of SAF into our operations is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 10.8 million pounds annually, or the equivalent of the emissions from 1,035 automobiles over the same period.”
“We applaud Atlantic’s vision and commitment to regular deliveries of SAF as part of their sustainability program,” said Steve Dryzmalla, senior vice president for business aviation bulk fuel, World Fuel Services. “World Fuel is proud to supply SAF to market leaders like Atlantic Aviation and to support actions that will help the business aviation industry reach its goal of a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050.”
The delivery of SAF is the latest initiative in a comprehensive Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) program at Atlantic Aviation. SAF follows Atlantic Aviation’s ongoing investment in light-emitting diode (LED) technology, use of electric ground support equipment, and efforts to reduce consumption of plastic and paper consumables.
