Atlantic OPF Supports Our Educators
Atlantic Aviation is excited to continue its partnership with Captain Barrington Irving and his nonprofit, Experience Aviation. Atlantic Opa-Locka (OPF) recently hosted an educational and fun-filled day of workshops with The Flying Classroom for a group of 33 educators in the Miami-Dade region. This was an amazing opportunity to host STEM classes and workshops directly to teachers who can in turn provide the skills and information back to their students.
These tailored workshops provided essential information on how STEM (Science, Technology, Education and Math) classes are utilized in real life applications in the aviation industry. Presentations led by Atlantic personnel and Barrington included topics such as General Background and Introduction of FBO Operations, Geometry of Hangar Stacking, Budgeting, The Science of Aircraft Towing, and Weight and Balance. These topics allowed the educators to have hands-on experiences that directly demonstrated applications of STEM, as well as open their eyes to all the moving parts and different aspects that are involved in aviation.
At the end of the day, the educators were left armed with knowledge and more familiarity of the aviation field and the job opportunities, both entry level and technical, that are available in aviation.
Atlantic understands the importance of investing in the next generation of aviation professionals and also recognizes the need to not only invest in our students but in our educators. We greatly value and appreciate the importance that educators have in shaping the next generation and guiding students towards successful lives.
